Antique maps are generally classed as those maps printed more than 100 years ago. Antique maps and old antiquarian map prints can make a unique gift for a special occasion such as a wedding, birthday, retirement or at Christmas, and make interesting and unusual decorative items for the home or office. Original antique maps dating fromaround the fifteenth century onwards are not only found in history museums, but can also be bought and collected for pleasure and investment. We offer resources and collector tops to help you find some of the best original antique maps, charts, engravings, globes and map prints available. Many of the antique maps that have survived were originally produced for atlases and antiquarian travel guides and travel books for geography scholars and ancient travellers. You can browse and purchase antique prints such as historical atlases, books and antiquarian maps. Antique maps are not only beautiful works of art but the historical information contained in these maps make them direct sources for education and research into world history, battles and ancient peoples; local history such as town plans through the ages as well as family history and genealogy.
